In what was one of the closest races of the night, the New Democratic Party’s Dave Gaudreau came out on top in St. Norbert.

Tory candidate Karen Veltuys will ask for a recount.

It marks the third straight win for the NDP in St. Norbert, and the atmosphere at Velthuys’ campaign headquarters was that of excitement, anticipation, and finally, disappointment.

Velthuys said she will continue to play an important role in St. Norbert’s community and is proud of what she and her team accomplished.

“This has been one of the most amazing experiences of my life,” said Velthuys. “I’m not sure what’s going to happen after tonight, but I can tell you I will continue to be a strong voice for St. Norbert, because I believe in our community and I am going to stay here and continue to fight for the things that are right in our community.”
