WINNIPEG — Manitoba NDP MP Niki Ashton will join the NDP leadership race Monday.

The 29-year-old Churchill MP will make her announcement shortly after noon from Montreal.

She will become the youngest candidate, the second woman and the second westerner to put her name on the ballot.

Ashton told the Free Press in September she was considering running for the leadership but wouldn’t decide until after the Manitoba provincial election.
