The town of Morden, the city of Winkler and the rural municipality of Stanley have been selected by Sport Manitoba as the host communities for the 2014 Power Smart Manitoba Winter Games on March 3-9, 2014.

The 2014 Power Smart Manitoba Winter Games will include the sporting events include badminton, cross country skiing, figure skating, curling, artistic gymnastics, hockey, ringette, swimming, and Special Olympics curling. It is expected there will be about 1,500 participants and 2,000 volunteers involved in the event.

“The Power Smart Manitoba Games are extremely important to our province, contributing significantly to the development of our athletes, coaches, officials, volunteers and communities throughout Manitoba,” said Minister responsible for sport Eric Robinson in a press release. “We have accepted Sport Manitoba’s recommendation and congratulate Winkler, Morden and Stanley on their successful bid to host the Games in 2014.”
