Goalkeeper Serena Bredin of Winnipeg is competing with Canada’s national women’s water polo team this week at the 2012 Fryslan Trophy tournament in Drachten, Netherlands.
The tournament, which also includes the Netherlands and Hungary, is Canada’s final tune-up event before beginning the Olympic qualification process.
“This is a quality opportunity to try tactics and line-up changes prior to the Olympic qualification tournament in Italy next month,” said Canada’s head coach Patrick Oaten in a statement. “It’s a great chance to compete against some strong competition from the Hungarian and Dutch national teams and to evaluate the team over the next three days.”
The 2012 women’s water polo Olympic Qualification Tournament will be held April 15-22 at the Polo Natatorio Bruno Bianchi in Trieste, Italy.
