The long weekend is here, so here’s a quick look at what’s open and what’s closed in Winnipeg.
Good Friday is a federal statuatory and provincial general holiday, although Easter Sunday and Monday are not. Still, many offices and businesses are closed Easter Monday.
Shopping

Most retailers in Winnipeg are not allowed to open on Good Friday.
Grant Park, Polo Park, Portage Place and St. Vital shopping malls are closed both Friday and Sunday.
The Forks Market is open every day during the long weekend – including Good Friday and Easter Sunday – from 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m..
Out and about
Assiniboine Park: All facilities, including the Zoo, are open regular hours throughout the Easter weekend, with the exception of the Park café, which will be closed for Good Friday.
Winnipeg Art Gallery: Closed Good Friday. Open 11-5 Saturday and Sunday. Closed Monday.
Manitoba Museum: Open Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Closed Monday.
Children’s Museum: Open Good Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Closed Easter Sunday. Open regular hours Saturday and Monday.
City services
All civic offices are closed on Good Friday and Easter Monday.
There will be no recycling or garbage collection on Friday and Monday for Winnipeg households. Collection will resume on Tuesday – Day 4 on the five-day cycle.
Cemetery grounds at Brookside, St. Vital and Transcona Cemeteries will be open for visitation from dawn to dusk over the Easter weekend including Friday, April 6 and Monday, April 9.
Transit
On Friday, Winnipeg Transit will operate on a Sunday schedule. On Sunday, the new Rapid Transit (RT) service begins operation.
On Monday, Winnipeg Transit will operate on a regular weekday schedule.

City recreation
All Winnipeg libraries are closed Friday and Sunday, but have regular hours Saturday. On Monday, only the Millennium Library will be open, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
All City of Winnipeg swimming pools will be closed on Friday, except Pam Am Pool and the Cindy Klassen Recreation Complex. Pam Am Pool will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and the Cindy Klassen Recreation Complex will be open from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Regular hours of operation are in effect for all pools on Saturday. Pools will be open on Sunday, April 8 as scheduled but will close at 4 p.m.
All pools are closed on Monday, except the Cindy Klassen Recreation Complex which will be open from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

All Leisure Centres are closed on Friday and Monday. Regular hours of operation are in effect for Saturday and Sunday. Please see the Leisure Guide, call 311 or visit their website for Leisure Centre schedules.
Harbour View and John Blumberg Golf Courses are currently open and accepting reservations.
Kildonan Park and Windsor Park Courses will open on Good Friday.
Federal services
Most federal offices, including all Canada Services Centres, are closed Good Friday and Easter Monday.
Provincial services
Provincial offices are closed on Good Friday and Easter Monday.
