A wolf was trapped and euthanized Thursday night in Birds Hill Park, near the spot where a pet dog was killed earlier this month.
However, Steve Danyluk, a chief natural resource officer with Manitoba Conservation and Water Stewardship, said he doesn’t know if it’s the same wolf that killed the Carlson family pet dog Spencer, just before dark on April 3.
“We caught a wolf,” Danyluk said.
Danyluk said traps were placed in the area where the Carlson dog was killed and now all of them will be removed.
A Conservation official confirmed after the Carlson dog was killed that another dog had been killed by a wolf in the park and that they knew two wolves had been in the park since January.
Danyluk said he doesn’t know if any other wolves remain in the park.
