Hey there, time traveller!

Former Winnipeg Blue Bombers offensive lineman Obby Khan has joined the University of Manitoba Bisons football team’s coaching staff for the 2012 season to assist Bisons offensive line coach Terry Watson.
Khan, 31, retired from the Canadian Football League last April after playing eight seasons, including six with the Blue Bombers.
“Bison Football is certainly excited to have this opportunity to bring Obby onto the coaching staff,” said Brian Dobie, the Bisons head coach who is in his 17th season. “Obby has been a long time friend of mine and our coaching staff and has also been a mentor to our Bison players. His commitment to our community has been exceptional and true to his character that he adds knowledge and experience from his lengthy CFL career by joining our program at University of Manitoba.”

Khan played Canadian Interuniversity Sport football for the Simon Fraser Clan and won the 2003 J.P. Metras Trophy as the outstanding lineman in the CIS. After earning his degree in kinesiology, he signed with the Cincinnati Bengals in 2004 and was selected in the 2004 CFL draft by his hometown Ottawa Renegades.
In his eight CFL seasons, Khan played 118 games, two playoff gmaes and in the 99th Grey Cup.
“I am very excited to be part of the Bison Football coaching staff. I think this is going to be a great challenge, adventure and experience,” Khan said in a statement. “I have been involved with the University of Manitoba for the past couple years and I have forged a relationship with many people around the school including coach Dobie and the other coaches. I think this is the next natural progression in my life from being a football player to now being a coach. I think I can give a lot back to the kids on the team and I look forward to just sharing my knowledge and experience with them.”
The Bisons will begin the 2012 training camp on Aug. 18 and open the Canada West season on Sept. 1 at the University of British Columbia. The Bisons will play all four of their home games at the U of M Stadium.
