WINNIPEG — Paul Postma has agreed to return to the AHL this fall while the NHL is in lockout.
The AHL all-star defenceman signed a one-way contract with the NHL’s Winnipeg Jets over the summer but has agreed to rejoin the St. John’s IceCaps when training camp starts Oct. 1.
Players are eligible to play in the AHL this season if they were on a team’s clear-day list last March or finished the season in the AHL. Postma qualifies on that account, and having agreed to go back, signed a separate AHL deal.
Joining Postma under the same circumstances are defenceman Derek Meech, forwards Spencer Machacek, Ben Maxwell, Maxime Macenauer and Aaron Gagnon and goalie Mark Dekanich.
