A rural Manitoba highway has been re-opened five months after a huge sinkhole collapsed a section of it.

The province announced Tuesday that Highway 83 between Russell and Roblin is now entirely open for traffic for the first time since July.

Heavy rainfall in the summer is thought to have caused an underground slide that created the sinkhole, which was 200 metres wide and about five metres deep.
