STONEWALL — Chelsea Carey stumbled again, Cathy Overton-Clapham stayed alive and someone finally figured out a way to beat Colleen Kilgallen here at the 2013 Scotties Tournaments of Hearts early Friday evening.

Carey’s record fell to 4-2 with an 8-5 loss to Overton-Clapham on the 4 p.m. draw. Overton-Clapham has now won three straight after opening at 0-3 and could still force a playoff tiebreaker game tomorrow if she wins her final round-robin game Saturday morning and gets some help from opponents.

Kilgallen, meanwhile, missed a chance to clinch first place in her round-robin pool, falling 10-7 to Brandon’s Stacey Fordyce (2-4) to drop to 5-1. And in other games, Karen Fallis improved to 4-2 with a 10-9 win over Dauphin’s Lisa Menard (0-6), while Jill Thurston improved to 3-3 with an 11-3 thrashing of Darcy Robertson, who lost her third straight to fall to 3-3.

Six of the eight teams in the Red Group can still make the playoffs heading into Saturday’s final round-robin draw. Here’s a look at the playoff scenarios in the Red Group:

–Kilgallen would finish first with a win over Fallis on Saturday and can do no worse than a playoff tiebreaker;

–Fallis can still finish as high as first place or as low as out of the playoffs;

–Carey can still finish as high as first place or as low as out of the playoffs;

–Overton-Clapham can still make a tiebreaker game, but she needs a win over Thurston, a loss by Carey to Robertson and a loss by Fallis to Kilgallen;

–Thurston can still make a tiebreaker game, but she needs a win over Overton-Clapham, a loss by Carey to Robertson and a loss by Fallis to Kilgallen;

–Robertson can still make a tiebreaker game, but she needs a win over Carey and a loss by Fallis to Kilgallen.

The Scotties resumes on the 7:45 p.m. Friday evening with a Black Group battle for first place between Barb Spencer (5-0) and Jennifer Jones (4-1). In other games, Michelle Montford (4-1) plays Janet Harvey (3-2); Kate Cameron (3-2) plays Charlene Norquay (0-5); and Liza Park (0-5) plays Deb McCreanor (1-4).
