The Winnipeg Jets hockey club is giving you a chance to take over first.
Settle down fans, not first in the Eastern Conference — but close. It’s a chance to win the first printed Winnipeg Jets licence plate, #WJ0001.
The Winnipeg Jets True North Foundation and the True North Sports and Entertainment announced on Thursday a raffle lottery for the coveted licence plate.
There are 15,004 tickets available – the attendance figure at a sold-out Jets game – at a cost of $20 each. All proceeds will go to the Winnipeg Jets True North Foundation.
Tickets will go on sale on Saturday and can be purchased at this season’s remaining Jets home games, all Jets Gear locations or by emailing Kait Flett from the Foundation. Tickets sold by e-mail will be available at noon Saturday.

Also Thursday, the Winnipeg Jets True North Foundation received a donation of $809,580 by the Manitoba government and Manitoba Public Insurance which was the proceeds of the sale of 27,000 Winnipeg Jets’ specialty licence plates.
Unveiled in December of 2011, the plates were sold at Autopac agents across the province for $70 with $30 going to the Jets’ True North Foundation. The foundation supports registered charities in Manitoba that focus on youth.
