Hey there, time traveller!

The 35th Manitoba Marathon Sunday featured 13,380 runners.
Kenya’s Evans Maiko sped to victory in the Manitoba Marathon, his first full marathon.
Maiko, 31, ran neck-and-neck with Winnipeg’s Brian Walker for much of the course, but pulled ahead by about a block heading into the finish line at the University of Manitoba.
Maiko’s time was 2:28:17. Walker’s time was 2:28:37.

Women’s race
Winnipeg’s Gina Tranquada won the women’s full race.
Tranquada, who won the 2011 race, maintained her lead throughout the stretch of the marathon.
Tranquada said she was hoping for a stronger time, but a rushed start and the morning heat slowed her down.
Half-marathon
Winnipeg’s Corey Gallagher won the Manitoba Marathon half-marathon.
Gallagher, 26, jogged past the finish line at University Stadium with a time of 1:10:50.
It’s the second consecutive year that Gallagher has claimed the half marathon lead, though it wasn’t his easiest race, he said.
“I guess going to UFC last night was a bad idea,” he chuckled. “One more mile, and I would have been done.
Meantime, after coming in second twice in her running career, Winnipeg’s Darolyn Walker, 31, won the women’s half-marathon.
Walker cruised past the finish line with a time of 1:26:42.
That’s a little slower than usual — she ran around 1:23:00 twice this year — but “given the heat, it’s to be expected,” she said.
The 35th Manitoba Marathon began at 7 a.m. with 13,380 runners at the University of Manitoba.
Wheelchair marathon
Saskatoon’s Dale Schiissler cruised to a win in the men’s wheelchair marathon — his first crack at a full marathon.
The 62-year-old, who used to do 10- to 15-kilometre wheelchair racing, started training for a full marathon about three years ago.
On Sunday, he speeded past the finish line with a time just over one hour, 45 minutes. “It was a nice look at Winnipeg,” Schiissler said, noting he hopes to come back for more.
The rain held off on a humid, clear cool morning as the 26.2-mile run began.
