A teen boy accused of manslaughter for the death of Christian O’Neail after a weekend dispute outside a Transcona house party has been granted bail pending trial.
Prosecutors and defence lawyer Greg Brodsky reached terms on which the 17-year-old youth could be released without the need to hold a contested bail hearing.
In addition to posting a $5,000 surety, the teen is barred from consuming alcohol or drugs and was ordered to report to a bail supervision program upon his departure from the Manitoba Youth Centre.

He has no prior criminal record.
O’Neail, 18, died in hospital of upper body injuries Aug. 31.
Police said an argument during a house party on Nevens Bay resulted in an outdoor physical confrontation. O’Neail suffered serious injuries which led to his death, police said.
Tuesday, Brodsky told court a major concern was to ensure the youth was able to return to school.
