The Winnipeg Jets are closer to their final roster after dispatching five more players from training camp today.

The team reassigned forwards Adam Lowry, Ivan Telegin, Eric O’Dell and Andrew Gordon to the AHL’s St. John’s IceCaps and have returned defenceman Josh Morrissey, the first-round draft pick last June, to the WHL’s Prince Albert Raiders.

Gordon’s assignment to the IceCaps is pending his clearance of NHL waivers.

Today’s moves leave the Jets still with 27 players — three goalies, nine defencemen and 15 forwards. They must declare a roster of 23 players by early next week.

Winnipeg still has two pre-season games to play, Thursday at  home against the Boston Bruins and Friday in Saskatoon, Sask., against the Bruins. The team’s regular season begins next Tuesday in Edmonton.
