Max Hall will get the start again for the Blue Bombers this week, and coach Tim Burke said he didn't worry that throwing a pair of picks in last week's crushing 53-17 loss to the B.C. Lions would shake Hall's focus as he prepares to face the Calgary Stampeders.

Max Hall will get the start again for the Blue Bombers this week, and coach Tim Burke said he didn’t worry that throwing a pair of picks in last week’s crushing 53-17 loss to the B.C. Lions would shake Hall’s focus as he prepares to face the Calgary Stampeders.

“He’s a competitor, he’ll rally,” Burke said on Monday. The Bombers did not practise, but will hit the field again Tuesday.

When Hall does play, he may be working from a shortened playbook. Burke said coaches have decided to eliminate plays the first-year CFL quarterback isn’t yet ready to tackle.

“We were asking him to run some plays that this is the first year in his career he’s had to run those plays,” Burke said of the plays the Bombers plan to eliminate. “Those are the plays he’s struggling with.”

Meanwhile, the team is getting ready to add some new bodies to the field this week, as they get ready to expand their roster on Wednesday.

On the injury front, American offensive lineman Dan Knapp won’t play against Calgary, after suffering a head injury last game. Steve Morley is expected back from injury to fill that space, Burke said.

Meanwhile, Chad Simpson likely will not play the Stamps, as he is still healing from a foot injury — not the same as plagued him last season, Burke said, but similar — although there’s a chance he’ll be healed up by then.
