WINNIPEG — Winnipeg Jets coach Claude Noel had no information as to the extent of today’s practice injury to left-winger Evander Kane.
Kane had to be helped off the sheet of ice at the MTS Iceplex late in the 80-minute workout. He appeared to be favouring his right leg.
“He got a tweak in practice and he’ll get assessed sometime today providing we can get him looked at and we’ll go from there,” Noel said. “He’s day-to-day right now. We just need further information and I don’t have it.
“It was one of his wheels. He’s got two good ones.”
Also leaving practice early today was centre Jim Slater.
Noel said there are a few players “banged up” and that Slater’s decision to exit was dealing with that. It’s the same case with centre Bryan Little, who was at the Iceplex today but didn’t practise.
The Jets are coming off a 3-0 loss Tuesday to the Montreal Canadiens, leaving them with four defeats in the last five games.
Their next action in Friday night as their six-game homestand continues with a game against the St. Louis Blues.
