The Winnipeg Blue Bombers, in the depths of one of the franchise’s worst-ever seasons, are raising ticket prices for the 2014 season.
Prices in five of seven ticket categories at Investors Group Field are going up in 2014. Four of those price increases are in the 2-3 percent range, but the fifth category — 4,400 of the club’s cheapest seats — are going up a whopping 26 per cent next season, from $199 this year to $250 next year.
Prices in the other two ticket categories — the club’s highest price premium seats and end zone seats — are unchanged in 2014.
Bombers COO Jim Bell said this morning that the huge increase in the lowest-price seats is a reflection of what the club came to believe this season were prices that were set too low to begin with in the inaugural season of Investors Group Field, while the more modest increases are simply a reflection of increased costs.
Bell said the lowest price seat at IGF next season will still be almost $100 less than the lowest price ticket at Mosaic Field for Saskatchewan Roughriders games.
