A man is in custody following a sexual assault this past September.
The incident occurred on Sept. 16 in the area of Main Street and Sutherland Avenue. While asking the victim for change, the suspect grabbed the victim, threatened her and forced her toward a nearby building, where the sexual assault took place. The female victim was robbed of her belongings before the suspect took off.
An investigation by the sex crimes unit led to the arrest of Kirt Michael Cameron, 41. Police arrested Cameron in Transcona on Friday.
Cameron was charged with numerous offences and was detained at the Winnipeg Remand Centre.
He is charged with sexual assault with a weapon, armed robbery, uttering threats and failing to comply with a condition of recognizance.
