The Winnipeg Jets aren’t about to look down their collective noses at a three-game win streak.
It’s just that getting to 9-9-2 – and a .500 record – will hardly be trumpeted as an accomplishment around their dressing room. And neither will getting one game above, should they knock off the Philadelphia Flyers at MTS Centre Friday night (7 p.m., TSN-Jets/TSN 1290), be cause for celebration.
“That’s not very significant for me,” said Claude Noel today. “We’ve been on the wrong side of the (playoff) line for two years in a row. And if you look at the Western (Conference) it’s going to take a little bit more than .500. It’s a barometer you judge things by and I’m glad that we’re there. But, if you ask me if I’m satisfied that we’re there… I wouldn’t put it that way.”

Friday night’s game will be a match-up of two teams on a mini-roll, the Flyers having also won three in a row. But with so much of the season left and so much work to do to get back into the playoff conversation, neither squad is getting too full of themselves.
“We’ve got to keep taking those baby steps and move forward,” said Jets’ assistant captain Olli Jokinen. “We’ve fought back to get to .500, but .500 is nothing. It’s a starting point and we’ve got to move forward.”
Both Toby Enstrom and Blake Wheeler skipped today’s practice for the usual ‘maintenance days’ but Noel said they are expected to play in the game.
