WINNIPEG — That 4-2 road trip for the Winnipeg Jets? So much history.
The important stuff is what’s ahead, and that will be games against Central Division opponents at home this week,
It starts Tuesday night with the St. Louis Blues, continues Thursday against Colorado and Saturday against Dallas.
When the Jets began their six-game swing through the Eastern Conference, they were eight points off the playoff line in the Western Conference.
Today at 14-13-4, the team is seven off that mark, so 4-2 wasn’t that big a move.
“We’d like to start climbing up a little,” Jets coach Claude Noel said after this morning’s practice at the MTS Iceplex. “We know what we have to do. We don’t have to be reminded of that.
“We could help ourselves a great deal this week because we’re dealing with divisional opponents and they’re four-point games.”
They practised once again without left-winger Evander Kane, who has now missed three games with this latest lower-body injury.
Noel said Kane is still day-to-day but will clearly need some practice time before he’d return to the lineup.
The coach also indicated today that defenceman Zach Bogosian, out week-to-week with a groin strain, is not very close to returning to action. He did not give a specific time frame.
