Dozens of Manitoba Hydro workers who spent Christmas restoring power in Ontario will be able to ring in the new year in Manitoba.
The 42-person crew flew out late Tuesday to help restore power to thousands of customers who were without light or heat after an ice storm struck Eastern Canada.
The number of those without power in the city had shrunk to 725 from about 300,000 customers at the height of outages, Toronto’s mayor said Monday. Power was expected to be fully restored by the end of the day.
The Manitoba Hydro workers will fly home Tuesday, arriving around 1:30 p.m. at Perimeter Aviation.
