Environment Canada is calling for a reprieve from the bitterly cold temperatures over the next 24 hours or so but with this break comes the white stuff. Following today’s forecast of sunny skies and a high of -23 C, light snow will enter the capital region around midnight.
With a south wind of 20 km/h increasing to 40 km/h and gusting to 60 km/h, there’s a chance of some blowing snow and reduced visibilities in open areas. The temperature should rise to -17 C throughout the night.
The snow will continue through most of Friday, ending in the early evening. Accumulation should be in the 5-10 centimetre range. Friday’s high is -10 C with a wind chill in the -30 range.
Sunny skies make up the forecast for the weekend.
