Residents of a Maples apartment complex whose vehicles are frozen to the parking lot ground don’t have to fret any longer.
Globe General Agencies, in charge of the Northwood Oaks apartments, is bringing in a steam truck on Monday to free the vehicles, after an excavator cleared up the ice around the cars Thursday night.
Manitoba Public Insurance is coordinating with Dr. Hook Towing to have all the cars towed after they become free.
MPI is urging all residents who have their cars stuck to make a claim as soon as possible. If they do not, Dr. Hook will not tow their cars on Monday.
Ron Penner of Globe General Agencies said they are not sure who is going to cover the costs yet, but their number one concern is freeing the vehicles.
“MPI suggested that it might pay for the steam truck,” he said. “But one way or another we’re getting them out of there.”
