Winnipeg police are investigating the first homicide of 2014.
On Sunday afternoon, the body of Justin Desmarais, 24, was found in a suite in the 200 block of Andrews Street in the North End.
A spokesman said the discovery was made about 3 p.m. at 283 Andrews St. in the William Whyte neighbourhood.
No arrests have been made, police said.
Investigators believe Desmarais might have been killed Friday or Saturday after an altercation inside the rooming house.
The cause of death is unconfirmed, and an autopsy has been scheduled.
Homicide investigators continue to interview witnesses.
