After seven seasons in blue and gold and so many spectacular catches, true-blue Bomber Terrence Edwards is calling it a career.
On Tuesday morning, the Bombers announced Edwards’ retirement, after nine years in the CFL. Most of those were spent with the Bombers, where he racked up 7,200 receiving yards, good for fourth-most in Bombers history. Five of those seasons broke the 1,000-yard mark, and he also churned up 24 100-yard receiving games for the team – second only to Milt Stegall.
In total, Edwards wraps his CFL career with 508 catches for 7,637 yards and 47 touchdowns. A Georgia Bulldogs alumnus, he came to the league in 2005, when he signed on with the Montreal Alouettes.
“I’ve had a great run in this league, and made countless friends and memories I will forever cherish,” Edwards said in a statement. “This city and the Blue Bomber organization have been so good to my family and me, and I just cannot thank them enough for everything they have done.
“Also, I would really like to acknowledge and thank the fans of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. The support we get as players is amazing, and that is one of the best things I will take away from my time in Winnipeg.”
