The long weekend is here, so here’s a quick look at what’s open and what’s closed in Winnipeg.
Good Friday is a federal statutory and provincial general holiday, while Easter Sunday and Monday are not. Still, many offices and businesses are closed Sunday and Monday.
Shopping
Most retailers in Winnipeg are not allowed to open on Good Friday.

St. Vital, Polo Park, Portage Place, Grant Park, Kildonan Place and Garden City shopping malls are closed both Friday and Sunday.
The Forks Market is open every day during the long weekend – including Good Friday and Easter Sunday – from 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m..
Liquor Marts are closed Good Friday and Easter Sunday. Many stores operate on extended hours on Thursday and Saturday; details on hours for specific stores are available online. Regular hours apply Monday.
Most beer vendors are closed Good Friday and Easter Sunday.
Some private wine stores are open Friday and Sunday.
Out and about
Assiniboine Park Zoo summer hours begin Good Friday: the zoo opens at 9:30 daily throughout the Easter weekend. Gates close at 4:30 p.m., the zoo is cleared at 5 p.m., and the gift shop and Tundra Grill close at 6.
Winnipeg Art Gallery: Open 11 to 5 Saturday and Sunday. Closed Friday and Monday.
Manitoba Museum: Open Good Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 11 to 5. Closed Monday.
Children’s Museum: Open Friday and Saturday from 9:30 to 6; open Sunday and Monday from 9:30 to 4:30.
The McPhillips Street Station and Club Regent casinos are closed Good Friday and Easter Sunday.
City services
All civic offices are closed on Good Friday and Easter Monday.
The city’s three frozen pipe citizen resource centres will have adjusted operating hours:

Good Friday: 11 to 6
Saturday: 7 a.m. to 9:45 p.m.
Easter Sunday: 7 to 4
Monday: 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Elmwood Kildonans Pool, 909 Concordia:
Good Friday: Closed
Saturday: 9 to 5
Easter Sunday: 10 to 4
Monday: Closed
Fort Rouge Leisure Centre, 625 Osborne Street
Good Friday: Closed
Saturday: 8:30 to 8:30
Sunday: 8:30 to 8:30
Monday: Closed
Recycling and garbage will be collected on Good Friday and Easter Monday for residents with Friday and Monday as their weekly cart collection day.
Brady Road Resource Management Facility is open Friday 5:30 a.m.- 8 p.m., Saturday and Sunday 9 to 5, and Monday 5:30 a.m.- 8 p.m.
Cemetery grounds at Brookside, St. Vital and Transcona Cemeteries will be open for visitation from dawn until 6 p.m. over the Easter weekend, including Friday and Monday. Cemetery offices are closed Friday and Monday.
Animal Services Agency is closed Friday and Monday and open Saturday and Sunday noon to 5 p.m.
The Winnipeg Parking Authority is closed Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
Transit
On Friday, Winnipeg Transit will operate on a Sunday schedule.
On Monday, Winnipeg Transit will operate on a regular weekday schedule.

City recreation
All Winnipeg libraries are closed Friday and Sunday, but have regular hours Saturday. On Monday, only the Millennium, Henderson and Pembina Trails branches will be open from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
All Leisure Centres are closed on Friday and Monday. Regular hours of operation are in effect for Saturday and Sunday. Please see the Leisure Guide, call 311 or visit their website for Leisure Centre schedules.
All pools are closed on Friday, except the Cindy Klassen Recreation Complex which will be open from 11 to 6. Regular hours of operation are in effect for all pools on Saturday. Pools will be open on Sunday as scheduled, but will close at 4 p.m.
All pools are closed on Monday, except Pan Am Pool and the Cindy Klassen Recreation Complex. Pan Am will be open from 10 to 2 and Cindy Klassen will be open from 2 to 6.
Federal services
Most federal offices, including all Canada Services Centres, are closed Good Friday and Easter Monday.
Provincial services
Provincial offices are closed on Good Friday and Easter Monday.
Winnipeg Free Press
The Free Press will not publish a print edition Good Friday. News will continue to be published as usual on our digital platforms.
The audience development (circulation), classified and display advertising departments will be closed Friday.
Regular weekend hours will be in effect Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
