Going to Coach Carter’s fundraising gala speech for Dakota Collegiate tonight?
Be wary — talk while he’s talking, and you’ll be down on the floor doing pushups.
Ken Carter, the entrepreneurial inspirational speaker wowed the students at Dakota Collegiate this morning with a rousing and often hilarious work-to-succeed talk.
Portrayed in the movie of the same name by Samuel L. Jackson, Coach Carter gained fame when he insisted academics were more important than winning basketball games when he coached at an inner city high school.
Tonight he headlines a fundraising dinner at the Polo Park CanadInn to kick off Dakota’s $2.2-million campaign for an artificial turf and lighted athletic field.
But as students found out this morning, if you’re rude, inattentive, or he just doesn’t like what you have to say, you’ll be doing pushups for the coach.
