WINNIPEG — Starting left guard Chris Greaves will be absent from the Blue Bombers lineup for the next week or two, head coach Mike O’Shea said today.

Greaves had to leave Thursday’s 36-28 victory over the Ottawa Redblacks in the second quarter. He was helped off the field, favouring his right leg and was replaced by rookie Matthias Goosen.

O’Shea said today that Greaves will not require surgery and will not be out any longer than necessary.

“He’s a tough guy,” the coach said. “He’s going to get back as soon as he possibly can. He’s not going to be one to rest.”

O’Shea held his future cards tight to the vest today, unwilling to share what the offensive-line makeup will be for this Friday’s game in Montreal.

Goosen is likely in the mix, and it could also include Paul Swiston , who has been injured.
