Garth Manness, long-time CEO of Credit Union Central of Manitoba (CUCM), has announced he’ll be retiring at the end of the year.
Manness will remain a senior adviser to the new CEO until the end of 2016.
The board of directors of CUCM will conduct a search for Manness’s replacement and will consider internal and external candidates for the job.
“Garth has been a very strong leader and managed the company through challenging times and transitions,” said Russ Fast, chairman of the board.
Manness has been head of the trade association and service provider for the province’s 36 credit unions for 15 years during a time of dramatic growth of the popularity of credit unions in the province.
CUCM manages many back-office functions for individual credit unions, including managing liquidity reserves and monitoring credit granting procedures. It also provides services such as corporate governance, government relations, representation and advocacy.
