Hey there, time traveller!

After scoring the first goal of the pre-season for the Winnipeg Jets, right-winger Dustin Byfuglien was missing from practice today at the MTS Centre.
Byfuglien played sparingly in the third period of Monday night’s 2-1 tune-up win over the Minnesota Wild on home ice. Head coach Paul Maurice said today that the team is taking the cautious road with Byfuglien, who has a “minor lower-body injury.”
The fact that Byfuglien was able to play three short, third-period shifts was evidence the problem is not a serious one, Maurice said.

The coach also revealed today that centre Eric O’Dell has an upper-body injury that’s a little more than day-to-day. He was missing from practice today.
Defenceman Mark Stuart, who missed the first two days of training camp, did skate with the afternoon group today but Maurice said he’ll be holding back on Stuart for any pre-season action until he’s fully ready.
Maurice also said that centre Jim Slater, who had surgery on his hip in late May, could be a player in Saturday’s exhibition game in St. Paul, Minn. Slater said today he has not yet been cleared for game action.
The Jets are at home to the Edmonton Oilers on Wednesday night, for their second exhibition game.
