Hey there, time traveller!
This article was published 01/10/2014 (4005 days ago), so information in it may no longer be current.
Several hundred eager shoppers swarmed through the new wing at Polo Park Shopping Centre this morning to check out 17 new stores that opened today as part of the mall’s latest expansion.
Within less than two minutes of being allowed into the new second floor wing, long lineups had already formed outside two of the most new popular outlets — the Disney Store and Nine West, a women’s shoes, purses and accessories store.
Winnipegger Arlene Lodge made the 25-minute walk from her home to be one of the first through the doors at Nine West.

“I’m just looking,” she said. “I wanted to check out Anthropologie, but it isn’t open yet.”
Next on her hit list was the Disney Store.
“I really missed it after it went away!”
The Disney Store returns to Winnipeg after a five-year absence. But more than half a dozen of the other new outlets, including Nine West, Anthropologie, and Urban Outfitters, are newcomers to Winnipeg.
Anthropologie and Urban Outfitters don’t open until the middle of October.
The 17 new stores are part of a $49-million redevelopment of the former Zellers space in the mall.
The project, which also involved relocating some existing tenants, took about two years to complete.
Five more stores, including Urban Outfitters and Anthropologie, will be opening over the next three weeks.
