Plan on attending Saturday’s open house at the Manitoba Legislative Building?
Then plan on possibly having your purse, coat or knapsack scanned by the building’s new screening machine inside the front door.
The device was plugged in earlier this week and comes after the Oct. 22 shooting at Parliament when Michael Zehaf-Bibeau opened fire before being killed by Sargent-at-Arms Kevin Vickers.
The legislative building’s security manager Clyde Moore said today as visitors enter the building Saturday it’s possible some will be asked to have their possessions screened.
The open house runs 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Visitors are asked to bring a non-perishable food item or an unwrapped toy for the Christmas Cheer Board.
