A Winnipeg man is facing numerous human trafficking and assault charges following a lengthy investigation into the sex-trade industry in Brandon over the last 10 months.

Since March, the Winnipeg Police Service Counter Exploitation Unit has been looking at a case involving the victimization of a woman. The investigation revealed that the woman had been forced to work as an escort, her sexual services sold for a fee. The woman was threatened with violence if she did not comply, and was physically assaulted on one occasion, police said.

Dale Richard Aymont, 43, was arrested and is facing several charges.

Since his arrest, two more women have come forward with accusations against Aymont, alleging violence and threats of violence were used to keep them working in the Brandon sex trade industry between May 1 and Oct. 15.

He was remanded into custody.
