A murder trial has been adjourned until next week after a lawyer’s father died.

Justice James Edmond, of Manitoba Court of Queen’s Bench, told a seven-woman, five-man jury, today that because defence counsel Kathy Bueti’s father had died the trial would be put over until Monday.

Bueti is defending Max Maurice Richard who is accused of killing 24-year-old April Hornbrook on Aug. 27, 2011.

Richard, 39, has pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder.
