Four Canadian divers are set to make a splash in South Korea next month.
Canadian Interuniversity Sport announced Thursday their Team Canada Roster for the 2015 Summer Universiade in Gwangju, South Korea beginning on July 3.
Representing Canada will be a pair of men and women, including Cameron McLean of Winnipeg in the 10m event. McLean is currently a student-athlete at Texas A&M.
Joining him will be fellow male competitor Dylan Grisell out of Florida State competing in the 3m dive.
Celina Toth from Victoria University and Carol-Ann Ware from Concordia University are Canada’s two female representatives and will both be competing in the 10m dive and the in the 10m synchro.
Winnipeg’s Dallas Ludwick will join Tommy McLeod as the two coaches for Team Canada.
Canada last picked up gold in a diving event back in 1993 and hasn’t medaled since 1999.
The Summer Universiade is second only to the Olympics in terms of the number of athletes and countries in attendance. Competitors for the Universiade may be full-time students at a post-secondary institution or have graduated in the year preceding the event.
The multi-sport event takes place every two years.
