The Winnipeg Blue Bombers loyal following has eclipsed the 21,000-mark.

The club announced today its season-ticket base currently sits at 21,337 as they prepare to play host to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats tonight in their home opener. The team said that number ‘”remains consistent” with the season-ticket base a year ago.

“We appreciate the ongoing support of all of our Season Ticket Members and Blue Bomber fans across the province,” said Winnipeg Blue Bombers President and CEO Wade Miller in a statement. “We continue our hard work in creating an outstanding game-day experience for our fans. On the field, we got off to a great start with a season opening win in Saskatchewan last week and we are looking toward the rest of the year with great optimism.”

Close to 27,000 tickets have been sold for tonight’s game, short of capacity at Investors Group Field (approximately 33,500). New CFL commissioner Jeffrey Orridge will be on hand to perform the official coin toss and members of the 1990 Bombers Grey Cup team – the last to win a championship in these parts – will be honoured before and during the game.

Orridge will also be involved in a halftime ceremony where 100 new Canadians will be honoured after being sworn in as Canadian citizens.

Members of the 1990 team will sign autographs at Tailgate at the Plaza between 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. and will also be recognized during the third quarter.

The Bombers are 1-0 after opening their 2015 campaign with a victory last week in Regina against the Saskatchewan Roughriders while the Ticats, defending East Division champs, are 0-1 after falling on a last-second field goal in Calgary versus the Stampeders.
