The unofficial forecast calls for Slurpees.
It’s supposed to be a scorcher on Saturday with Environment Canada issuing humidex warnings of 40 for the weekend.
Saturday’s forecast calls for a high of 31 C with sunny skies and a UV index of 6 or high. Best to pack extra sunscreen and an umbrella if you’re headed to the Winnipeg Folk Festival at Birds Hill Provincial Park.
There’s a 30 per cent chance of showers this afternoon and a risk of a thunderstorm.
Environment Canada predicts winds blowing southerly 20 km/h early this afternoon and into the evening.
Chances of showers augment to 60 per cent this evening with continued risk of thunderstorm.
Tonight’s forecasted low is 20 C.
7-Eleven Canada will be giving away free Slurpees at their Winnipeg locations today from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
They will also be vying for a world record at their location at 119 Salter St.
7-Eleven plans to build the world’s largest Slurpee to celebrate Winnipeg being named the Slurpee capital of the world for the 16th consecutive year.
The giant drink is supposed to be 711 litres.
