Homes that blend architectural ingenuity with the rustic beauty of the Red River are the highlights of the ninth annual Winnipeg Art Gallery Home Tour.
The self-guided tour of four homes in Winnipeg’s southern neighbourhoods takes place Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets for this gallery fundraiser are $35 and tours can be reserved online at wag.ca/hometour or in person at the WAG, McNally Robinson Booksellers or Blue Hills Design.
“Known as the river city, Winnipeg boasts some of the finest riverfront homes on the Prairies and the 2015 Home Tour celelbrates its stunning architecture and design, says WAG director and CEO Stephen Borys in a release.
Fort Garry’s South Drive is the setting for two of the houses. The home at 510 South Dr., has a river view and incorporates an Asian art collection inside.
At 716 South Dr., designed by Tom Monteyne in 2006, visitors can inspect its dramatic views, as well as its library, media room and a spa that includes a swim-in-place pool.
St. Vital hosts the other two homes on the tour. Winnipeg architect Etienne Gaboury designed 90 River Rd., which sits on the riverbank with one facade reaching for the sun and the other facing the river.
G House, which is located at 260 Victoria Cres., was designed with privacy in mind.
