The Winnipeg Jets fell 3-1 to the Edmonton Oilers at Rexall Place in Edmonton Monday night.

Teddy Purcell opened the scoring at 11:15 of the first period and added another less than two minutes later. Linemates Taylor Hall and Leon Draisaitl assisted on both goals.

Justin Schultz, with his first of the season, made it 3-0 Edmonton in the second period before Bryan Little got the Jets on the board with his team-leading 13th snipe of the year.

There was no scoring in the third period.

Connor Hellebuyck allowed three goals on 14 shots in the Winnipeg net before being replaced by Michael Hutchinson, who made seven saves, while the Jets fired 45 shots at Oilers goaltender Cam Talbot.

Before tonight, the Oilers wrapped up a four-game road trip Saturday night in Denver, dropping a 5-1 decision to the Avalanche. The trip ended with three straight losses and a 1-3-0 mark.

Prior to the latest losing streak, the Oilers had shown impressive signs of life, winning six in a row to nearly get their record back to .500.
