Hey there, time traveller!
This article was published 14/01/2016 (3556 days ago), so information in it may no longer be current.
Weston Dressler wasn’t unemployed for long Thursday before he heard from the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
And likely a few other CFL teams, as well.
The diminutive receiver was part of a salary cleansing by the Saskatchewan Roughriders after they shed reportedly $500,000 by releasing Dressler and veteran defensive end John Chick.

The Bombers did make contact with Dressler’s camp to express their interest in the 30-year-old pass catcher, who has posted five 1,000-yard receiving seasons in his career and had 70 catches for 941 yards and six touchdowns in 2015. Dressler has been a thorn in the Bombers’ side over the years, with 54 catches for 770 yards and seven touchdowns — and a punt-return score — in 15 career games against Winnipeg.
Reports also have the Montreal Alouettes and Toronto Argonauts interested in the Bismarck, N.D., product, who is a high-profile part of a purge by the new Riders management under GM and head coach Chris Jones and vice- president of player personnel John Murphy.
Earlier this week the Riders did add receiver Maurice Price in a deal with the Ottawa Redblacks.
The Bombers have also expressed interest in another receiver with CFL experience who became free this week after former Alouette Duron Carter was cut adrift by the Indianapolis Colts.
Upgrading the receiver position remains one of the top priorities for the Bombers, who finished dead last in passing touchdowns in 2015 with just 19 and second last in passing yards with 4,165.
