Defending champion Reid Carruthers has been chosen by his fellow competitors as the favorite to win next week’s Manitoba men’s curling championship.
Carruthers was named the top seed for next week’s Viterra Championship at a news conference Thursday morning.
Mike McEwen, a five-time runner-up, was named the second seed.

Willie Lyburn, another former finalist, was named the third seed, followed by Daley Peters and Alex Forrest as the fourth and fifth seeds respectively.
This year’s provincial men’s championship is being held at the Selkirk Recreation Complex from Feb. 10-14.
The page playoff 1 vs 2 game next Saturday evening will be broadcast live on Sportsnet One at 6 p.m.. The semi-final on Sunday will be broadcast at 9 a.m. and the final will air at 2 p.m. Sunday’s broadcasts will air on Sportsnet West.
The winner next Sunday will represent Manitoba at the Brier next month in Ottawa.
