For the first time in the 2015-16 NHL season, the Winnipeg Jets registered a come-from-behind win in the third period, beating the Colorado Avalanche 3-2 at the MTS Centre Saturday night.

Adam Lowry broke a 2-2 tie near the nine-minute mark of the third period to complete the comeback, erasing a 2-0 lead by the Avalanche built in the second frame. Lowry scored his fifth of the season, set up by a nifty pass from Scott Kosmachuk. It was the first NHL point for Kosmachuk in just his third game.

The Jets had yet to win a game when trailing after two periods, boasting a record of 0-24-3 heading into Saturday. The win improves the Jets to 28-35-5 on the year, while the Avalanche fall to 35-31-4 with the loss.

After a scoreless first frame, Colorado opened the scoring in the second with goals from Erik Johnson and Matt Duchene. The Jets would eventually answer late in the period with a goal from Mark Scheifele, who notched his 22nd of the season and extended his point-streak to seven games. The 22-year-old centreman has seven goals and three assists for 10 points during that stretch.

Drew Stafford would even the game at 2-2 at the 7:26 mark of the third period, setting the stage for Lowry’s game-winning goal less than two minutes later.

Ondrej Pavelec finished with a 35-save performance to earn the win in net for the Jets. Semyon Varlamov turned aside 27 of 30 pucks in the loss.
