Former Winnipeg Jets great Dale Hawerchuk and current Winnipeg Jets star Mark Scheifele will speak to Dakota Collegiate students on Monday.
The two will discuss early influences, the role of sports in their lives, and memorable experiences. Hawerchuk was Scheifele’s junior hockey coach with the Barrie Colts, and highly recommended the centreman to the Winnipeg Jets.
TSN Sportcentre’s Sara Orlesky will moderate the event, interviewing Hawerchuk and Scheifele and directing questions from students.
The two hockey stars will speak from 2:45 – 3:45 p.m. at Dakota Collegiate, 661 Dakota Street. Parking spots 88-99 are open to visitors. Visitors must register and provide a license plate number at the office.
Hawerchuk and Scheifele will also speak at a gala fundraising dinner that same evening at Canad Inns, Polo Park, to benefit the capital campaign for the Alumni Field at Dakota Collegiate.
