The Edmonton Eskimos defeated the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 20-16 Thursday night at Investors Group Field.

The Bombers managed to hold a slim 16-13 lead earlier in the game, after they exchanged field goals with the Edmonton Eskimos during the third quarter of Thursday night’s tilt.

The Eskimos briefly tied the game 13-13 after trailing 13-10 at the half. But the Bombers kicker Justin Medlock snatched back the lead with a 29-yard strike with 16 seconds left on the clock.

Winnipeg took an early 3-0 lead in the first quarter, and appeared to increase it to 10-0 through newly minted returner, defensive back Kevin Fogg, early in the second frame.

Fogg took a 94-yard punt return to the house, but it was negated by an ill-advised illegal blocking call on Bombers defensive end Shayon Green.

With the call enforced on the Esk’ 32-yard line, Willy found receiver Rory Kohlert on consecutive plays, the last being a 20-yard strike to give the Bombers a 10-0 lead.

After making it 13-3 on a Medlock 38-yard kick, the Esks put together a textbook two minute drill. Cory Watson was the beneficiary on a two-yard touchdown grab with three ticks left on the game clock to cut Winnipeg’s lead to 13-10.
