Hey there, time traveller!
This article was published 07/09/2016 (3287 days ago), so information in it may no longer be current.
Winnipeg Jets goalie Connor Hellebuyck will have a new number on the outside of his jersey and a patch on the inside honouring the memory of a former member of the Atlanta Thrashers.
Hellebuyck will wear No. 37 on his sweater this season instead of No. 30 and he has the blessing of the family of Dan Snyder, a forward with the Thrashers who died in a car crash in 2003.
No other Atlanta players wore that number and the Jets carried over the tradition when the NHL team moved north in 2011.

Snyder was seriously hurt when a vehicle driven by his teammate, Dany Heatley, went out of control and crashed. He died a week later. Heatley was given three months probation after pleading guilty to second-degree vehicular homicide.
The Jets still hand out the Dan Snyder Memorial Award at the end of each season to a member of the team.
Winnipeg forward Alex Burmistrov is also switching numbers, dropping No. 6 and taking No. 91 instead.
Jets forward Shawn Matthias, a free agent signing over the summer, will wear the familiar No. 16, worn for the better part of five seasons by former captain Andrew Ladd.
Another new forward, Quinton Howden, will wear No. 21, while blue-liner Brian Strait will don No. 47.
