Connor Hellebuyck is expected to get his second-straight home start in goal for the Winnipeg Jets when they host the Boston Bruins tonight.

Game time is 7 p.m. at the MTS Centre.

Hellebuyck made 23 saves last Thursday as the Jets staged a third-period rally to defeat the Carolina Hurricanes 5-4 in overtime.

Winnipeg head coach Paul Maurice is also expected to dress defenceman Ben Chiarot in place of Mark Stuart, and forward Joel Armia spots in for Chris Thorburn.

The Jets have split a pair of games to open the NHL season, falling to the Minnesota Wild 4-3 Saturday night in St. Paul, Minn.

The Bruins, meanwhile, are 1-1 and conclude a three-game road trip tonight. They beat the Columbus Blue Jackets 6-3 on Thursday but then dropped a 4-1 decision to the Toronto Maple Leafs Saturday.

Veteran left-winger Brad Marchand has been terrific for Boston, scoring two goals and adding four assists.

Jets forward Drew Stafford said the home team will play particular attention to the diminutive but crafty Bruin.

“We’ll do our best to take time and space away, and make sure we’re playing him hard whoever’s in that matchup,” said Stafford. “He’s obviously a player that plays with a lot of speed and a lot of skill, so anything we can do to make his game a little harder, we’ll do that.

“But they’ve got quite a few other guys that can do some damage,so it’s kind of a team-wide thing that we’re looking to play that heavier game, fast game and see if we can generate a little more (offence) than we have the last few games.”

Winnipeg fired only 17 shots at the Wild net Saturday — eight combined in the last two periods — the club’s lowest total since March 2015, when they took 16 shots in a 5-4 loss to the St. Louis Blues.

Boston all-star centre Patrice Bergeron is recovering from a lower-body injury and did not participate in the club’s morning skate. He is listed to day to day and there’s no word yet on whether he makes his season debut tonight.
