Four people were taken to hospital after an assault outside St. John’s High School early Thursday afternoon.
Police said a man suffered “an upper-body injury” in a park next to the school. Some students said later they heard he had been stabbed. The victim was helped by school staff and was in hospital listed in stable condition Thursday afternoon.
Pepper spray was used in the incident as well, and three youths were taken to hospital as a precaution, the Winnipeg Police Service said.
Officers were called to the scene at about 12:45 p.m., and the school went into a lockdown, which was lifted at about 2 p.m.
Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to call investigators at 204-986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
