Winnipeg police have released the name of the city’s 17th homicide victim.

Trevor Bodnarek, 27, also known as Trevor Desjarlais, died after being shot outside a home in the 700 block of Selkirk Avenue around 10 p.m. Friday.

“(He was) shot at his front door. That has to be terrifying. There were people inside at the time,” police spokesman Const. Rob Carver said Monday.

Carver said the victim was known to police, but people shouldn’t read anything negative into the two different names.

“People switch names sometimes,” he said.

Police have made no arrests and Carver said they are asking the public to call homicide investigators at 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477) if they have any information.
