Winnipeg’s zoo wants you to wander in on Wild Wednesdays at a reduced admission price for the next four weeks.
On Wednesdays between Aug. 9 and Sept. 6, special prices will be in effect for all visitors to the Assiniboine Park Zoo.
It will cost $12 to get in for everyone aged 13 and up, adults, youths and seniors, savings of 33 to 40 per cent in those admission categories.

For children (ages 3-12), it will cost $10, a $1 saving from the regular admission price.
The first 200 visitors to the zoo each Wednesday during the promotion will each receive a voucher for a free ice cream at the Tundra Grill or Winston’s Ice Cream Shoppe.
This is the first time the zoo has offered a weekly discounted admission program to the public since the Super Tuesdays promotion ended in April 2016. In that one-year program, zoo visitors received an admission discount on the first Tuesday of every month.
That was preceded by the $10 Tuesdays initiative that was held in July 2014 to April 2015 in conjunction with the opening of the Journey To Churchill exhibit.
“We offer a number of discounted admission days throughout the year, but since the discontinuation of Super Tuesdays, these promotions have taken place in the shoulder seasons – spring, fall and winter. So this year, we decided to add a discounted admission promotion for the last month of summer before kids return to school and families return to their busy schedules,” said Zoo spokeswoman Laura Cabak.
She said other discounted admission promotions in the past have included the Northern Explorer Month in February when a visitor pays the applicable admission fee once and may as often as wanted during that month, Halloween where there is a discount for people who come to the zoo dressed in a costume, Remembrance Week when military personnel and families receive free admission. For Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and Grandparents’ Day, the people of honour have received half-price admission.
For Wild Wednesdays, admission tickets must be purchased in-person at the main zoo entrance on Wednesdays and are valid for that day only.
Regular admission prices are $19.95 for adults (ages 18-59), $17.75 for youths (aged 13-17) and $17.75 for seniors (ages 60 and up).
