The Winnipeg Police Service issued a public advisory at around 7 p.m. Friday.

Police are asking the public to avoid the northbound lanes of Main Street between Higgins and Euclid avenues.

The closure is to allow traffic collision investigators from the Winnipeg Police Service to conduct testing in the area between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. The work is being done to assist the Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba.

It is the section of Main Street where a pedestrian, 23-year-old Cody Severight, was struck and killed while crossing the street last month.

Off-duty Winnipeg Police Service Const. Justin Holz was charged with impaired driving causing death and failure to remain at the scene of an accident.
